I was recently asked the following question:
How do current cultural trends affect the church today? What implications do these trends have for the church and how should the church respond to them?
We are human beings and therefore we are part of and affected by culture. As cultural trends change we in the church must decide if these trends are sinful and detrimental for the church or if they are changes that are non-harmful. We must respond if they are going to degrade the church and our relationship with God. We as humans often fear changes, however culture by nature change. Therefore, we must make sure that we do not label all new trends as wrong or sinful out of fear but rather from looking into God’s work and seeking His wisdom. Often new philosophies will shake the very foundations of our Christianity, we must as a church teach our young, our brothers and our sisters so that we do not fall into the trap of the world’s philosophy.
